Allen MacInnis started his career when Canadian theatre was burgeoning, which offered him wide-ranging work across Canada in contemporary theatre, new plays, musicals, classics, works by Indigenous artists, and theatre for young audiences. He served as Artistic Associate of Alberta Theatre Projects when its long running new play festival was founded. In his seven years as Artistic Director of Prairie Theatre Exchange, he broadened the company’s programming and toured several works in Canada and abroad. For twenty years, Allen led the artistic vision Young People’s Theatre, exploring an enormous range of theatrical forms for the best of all audiences, young people.
