Cahoots Theatre operates on the land of Anishinaabe, the Haundenosaunee, the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This land is known by many names such as Treaty 13 Territory and Tkarón:to, a word from the Mohawk meaning trees standing in the water. Tkarón:to has always been a meeting place because of how the waterways intersect. Cahoots is within the wampum belt covenant, The Dish with One Spoon Territory. This is the agreement between the caretakers of the shared territories and hunting grounds. Check out our full land acknowledgment:
Please note our staff is working remotely for the foreseeable future so no one is in the physical space.
Cahoots Theatre has historically been led by an Artistic Director and an administrative head. Currently, the company is being co-led by Tanisha Taitt, Artistic Director (2019-present), and Lisa Alves, Managing Producer (2020-present). The leadership is supported by the Board of Directors which consists of two co-chairs, a treasurer, a secretary, and several directors.

We don’t have a built in ticketing platform on our site right now. As a small company with humble resources, we want to ensure our monetary resources are going directly to our artists and communities first and foremost. This is why we use SimplyK because it free of charge for us to use and you don’t get charged service fees when you purchase tickets.
For in-person programming, we also tend to rent out theatre spaces across Tkarón:to because our space is not for performances. When we rent from other theatres, their ticketing platform is within our rental expense. Logistically it makes the most sense since we are renting their space both physically and digitally.
We may introduce our own ticketing platform in the future and we’ll let you know when we do. Until then, thank you for supporting Cahoots Theatre!
